The SIPPxEntoSoc2025 conference held at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Backweston Campus on 24th October 2025 was a tremendous success. Our second conference in collaboration with the Student Entomology Society Ireland, the event brought together researchers, students and professionals from across plant health and entomology disciplines.

The programme featured 14 oral presentations and 16 posters, covering a range of topics including forestry, crop research, molecular plant pathology, and entomology. We were delighted to welcome keynote presentations from Louise Byrne, Chief Plant Health Officer for Ireland, and Dr Aidan O’Hanlon of the National Museum of Ireland – Natural History.

 

The conference sold out in advance, with over 80 registered attendees, and more than 100 participants joining throughout the day. Several attendees also participated in guided tours of the plant science laboratories at Backweston.
