First Meeting

Our Objectives

Facilitate the exchange of information and ideas in plant pathology for the benefit of members.​​​​​

Promote awareness and interest in plant pathology within the wider community.

​​​

Advise on matters of importance relating to plant pathology.

Support the next generation of plant pathologists

The inaugural meeting of the Society took place on 16 February 1968 in the Plant Pathology teaching laboratory at UCD Albert College (now Dublin City University).

 

Around 25 participants attended, marking the start of of SIPP’s journey.

Founder members are defined in the SIPP Constitution as those who joined the Society within its first year. By the end of 1968, 42 members had joined.
